As part of the 2008 Housing and Economic Recovery Act, CLF received from the SC State Housing Finance and Development Authority just over $7.4M to acquire, rehabilitate and redevelop foreclosed properties within the Tri county region. CLF is working with 10 area partners non-profit, for-profit and government entities to address this growing crisis. To date, CLF and its partners have put over $6.3M into the local economy; getting abandon foreclosed properties back on the market, taking troubled assets off the banks books, helping Realtors sell homes, putting contractors and suppliers back to work rehabilitating these homes and at the end of the day providing a new affordable home for local citizens who are in desperate need of housing. NSP has been a great program to stimulate the housing market, we hope Congress will continue to see the value in this program and support it throughout the budget process.
