CLF’s Executive Director Named One of the Region’s Most Influential Women in Business
Michelle Mapp, executive director of SC Community Loan Fund, has been named one of the region’s most Influential Women in Business for 2012 by the Charleston Regional Business Journal.
Each year, the Business Journal honors local women who have demonstrated professional excellence and leadership in their careers and community service.
Michelle will be honored with other outstanding businesswomen at a program and luncheon July 12 at the Daniel Island Club. It begins at 11 a.m. and it is open to the public. Click here if you’d like to purchase tickets to the event. In addition to the program, the event is billed as a great networking opportunity. The keynote speaker will be Jane Perdue, principal/CEO, The Braithwaite Innovation Group.
Michelle first joined CLF as an intern program coordinator in January 2006. She was hired in January 2007 as the full-time program director. Through these positions, Michelle developed and administered all of the CLF’s loan programs as well as provided day-to-day technical assistance and project management guidance to nonprofit and for profit developers producing affordable housing throughout the Lowcountry. In 2011, she was promoted to executive director.
As CLF’s executive director, Michelle has helped the organization broaden its service area from Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties to also include Beaufort and Georgetown counties.
Michelle also has helped the organization broaden its focus. Previously, CLF focused solely on increasing the production of affordable housing, whether it was through advocacy, education or the actual financing of affordable housing. However, Michelle, along with the staff and board of directors, has shaped the organization into a catalyst that works to meet the fundamental needs of underserved neighborhoods. SC Community Loan Fund now also offers Health Food Financing and Small Business Loans within underserved communities.
Congratulations, Michelle!
