On May 17th, we’ll be hosting an all-day housing summit to discuss how housing matters to families and communities in our region. The Summit will provide an opportunity for the business community, housing industry professionals, service providers, faith and community based organizations, local elected and governmental officials, federal and state officials, and other interested parties to interact and focus their collective energy on meeting our region’s housing and economic development needs. Participants will have an opportunity to engage in a facilitated discussion and keypad polling to aid in prioritizing the region’s housing needs.

“There is a tremendous need for affordable housing throughout the region,” states Michelle Mapp, executive director of CLF. “We must come together as a community to openly discuss the issue and develop solutions to ensure long-term sustainability for the Lowcountry.”

Keynote speaker, Mitchell Silver with the City of Raleigh, will share his successes for his City, including his work to transform Raleigh into a world class city. Raleigh is renowned for strong job growth, R&D, higher education, high quality of life, and is one of two leading metros used as a benchmark for the annual Regional Economic Scorecard produced by the Charleston Regional Development Alliance.

Additional speakers include Mayor Riley (City of Charleston); Tracy Doran (Humanities Foundation); and Daniel Clark (AmericaSpeaks). There will also be a panel discussion moderated by Tammie Hoy Hawkins (Together Consulting, LLC) that offers first-hand accounts from various local organizations working towards increasing affordable housing opportunities in the Lowcountry.

We encourage you to attend the Tri-County Housing Summit and lend your voice to the discussion.

This event is free and open to the public, but space is limited and registration is required. Lunch will be served. Registration ends on Friday, May 10, 2013, so register today.
