SCCLF in partnership with the Humanities Foundation is proud to announce the closing of $2 million in funding for the Archer School Apartments. This funding, made possible through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and administered by the South Carolina Community Loan Fund (SCCLF) on behalf of Charleston County, comes as a beacon of hope to bridge a crucial gap in our efforts. We are delighted to share this significant milestone of providing safe and affordable housing to those in need.
The Archer School Apartments, a cornerstone of our commitment to affordable housing, has faced challenges in the wake of changes to South Carolina Housing’s Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program in 2021. These changes created financial gaps that threatened our ability to provide essential affordable housing in our community. However, thanks to the unwavering support of Charleston County and the diligent work of the SCCLF, we continue to move forward with a renewed determination to complete the Archer School Apartments, which is nearing 80% completion.
SCCLF is committed to working closely with partners such as Charleston County and the Humanities Foundation to advance affordable housing efforts in our region. Together, we are creating a brighter and more inclusive future for Charleston’s Eastside community, where everyone has access to safe and affordable housing.
