The Race and Social Justice Initiative (RSJI) at the College of Charleston was developed to promote public awareness and dialogue about race and social justice issues in the Charleston area, the state of South Carolina, and beyond, through a collaborative effort led by the Avery Research Center for African American History and Culture, Addlestone Library, the African American Studies Program, the Lowcountry Digital History Initiative (LDHI), and multiple community partners. We have partnered with these groups and a number of other organizations on the upcoming Race and Social Justice Event Series.
The Race and Social Justice Event Series features talks from a number of today’s thought leaders on race, social justice, and reconciliation. The first event, a conversation with Marian Wright Edelman, Author and President of the Children’s Defense Fund, took place earlier this month. Mark your calendars for the next two talks featuring Bryan Stevenson and Ta-Nehisi Coates. All events are free and open to the public!
