It does this through a unique blend of educational, economic, and health initiatives. With over 16 years of experience, SC Uplift has left an indelible mark on housing and community development, focusing primarily on affordable housing, employment services, and the overall well-being of South Carolina residents.
Founded in 2008, SC Uplift Community Outreach is driven by the belief that safe, secure, and affordable housing is fundamental to improving the quality of life for individuals and families across South Carolina. With its extensive experience in housing development, property management, and home modifications, SC Uplift has consistently delivered innovative projects catering to low-income individuals in metropolitan, suburban, and rural areas.
One of SC Uplift’s core competencies is housing rehabilitation. The organization has spearheaded hundreds of projects, focusing on providing homes that meet affordability standards and are equipped with modern amenities to enhance the quality of living. As a Designated Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) through Richland County, SC Uplift has successfully renovated seven single-family homes and secured a newly constructed home to provide affordable rental housing for residents.
SC Uplift has partnered with the South Carolina State Housing Finance and Development Authority’s Housing Trust Fund (HTF). This collaboration has enabled SC Uplift to complete over 300 owner-occupied rehabilitation projects, targeting very low-income homeowners. The projects under HTF often involve critical repairs like roof replacements, heating system installations, and accessibility modifications for disabled individuals, ensuring that those who are most vulnerable can live in homes that meet health, safety, and structural standards.
While SC Uplift has made significant strides in general affordable housing, its innovation in senior living deserves special recognition. Understanding the unique needs of older adults, SC Uplift has created homes that cater specifically to that demographic. The organization has been at the forefront of introducing South Carolina’s first affordable senior SMART Home, designed with modern technology principles to improve the lives of seniors.
SC Uplift’s senior-focused initiatives also include home repairs for approximately 60 seniors over the past decade. By ensuring these individuals have homes meeting modern safety standards, the organization has allowed them to live with dignity in a secure and comfortable environment.
