In the bustling world of traffic control, Peggy Carr, the owner of Traffic Control Solutions, is an example of determination and success. With roots in the industry dating back to 1998, Peggy’s journey from designing Nevada’s largest interchange to becoming a thriving business owner in Myrtle Beach is inspiring.
Having spent most of her life in Reno, Peggy made the move to the east coast in pursuit of raising her daughter near the beach. However, retirement wasn’t on her agenda. Peggy founded Traffic Control Solutions in July 2021, bootstrapping the company as a South Carolina transplant.
Traffic Control Solutions specializes in flagging operations and lane closures, catering to prime contractors such as asphalt and sitework companies. According to their website, Traffic Control Solutions is the one source for all your traffic management requirements. They offer a complete line of traffic control devices and services as well as a team of experienced consultants to assist you in every aspect of your project.
Women-owned and small, Traffic Control Solutions is certified as a DBE (disadvantaged business enterprise) and SBE (small business enterprise), allowing them access to unique opportunities and jobs. In a male-dominated field, Peggy is used to being the only female in the room. She now employs eight men, recently hiring her first operations manager, which will allow her to focus more on growing the business.
Most recently, Traffic Control Solutions has experienced growth by adding to their equipment portfolio with the help of South Carolina Community Loan Fund. Peggy was introduced to SCCLF through her banker at Bank of America. Peggy quickly connected with Brian Coloclough, Chief Lending Officer, to discuss her options. She ended up securing an equipment loan to purchase Automatic Flagging Devices, which are game changers in their workflow. The devices also add to their revenue as Peggy’s team rents them to others in addition to using them themselves.
Peggy is proud to share that in a short span from May 2022 to October 2023, Traffic Control Solutions achieved over $1 million in gross sales, exceeding expectations.
