Croft Christian Academy
A faith-based childcare center in the Upstate is inspiring kids to connect their schoolwork to the workforce through career exploration.
Located in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Croft Christian Academy plans to provide children in the Upstate area with faith-based learning, early childhood education, and early exposure to different career fields. Early exposure to careers is important in guiding children to future career choices, according to Read to Lead.
“A child might say they don’t like a certain subject because that can’t see the importance of it,” said Shannon Luineses, co-owner of the academy. “But if I told the child that to be a scientist you have to use math, they might start to see math differently.”
Shannon and Tyrone Luineses, owners of Croft Christian Academy, are passionate about preparing children for life and equipping them academically for success. The academy is a part of the Croft Christian Church, which they founded in 2014.
“We want to teach children about the world before they step out into it,” said Shannon. “We want to prepare them.”
Croft Christian Church and Academy is located in a former night club and is currently being converted into a multi-use facility. A portion of the renovations were financed through South Carolina Community Loan Fund’s small business loan program.
The academy will serve infants, toddlers , and school aged children.
“We are excited about a lot of things, however we are looking forward to seeing the smiling faces of the kids the most,” she said.
