Tri-County Housing Summit: June 13, 2014

Date: May 14, 2014
Category: Housing

Affordable housing continues to be an issue for the Charleston tri-county area, and issue that is the focus of the Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Housing Needs Assessment. The assessment identifies current and emerging housing trends and needs; generates a great understanding of local housing issues; and provides direction for addressing these housing-related issues. The take away message is that the tri-county region is thriving in terms of employment opportunities and growth, but is weakened by an unaffordable housing market that fails to meet the needs of its residents.

On June 13, the South Carolina Community Loan Fund will host the second annual Tri-County Housing Summit to explore the findings of the assessment by discussing how housing matters to families and communities in our region, and what solutions might be pursued to address the region’s housing issues.

Speakers include the Honorable Joseph P. Riley, Jr., Mayor of the City of Charleston, and John Knott, Founder and CEO of CityCraft Ventures. Michelle Winters, ULI Senior Visiting Fellow for the Terwilliger Center, is the keynote speaker.

This event is FREE and open to the public, and lunch will be served. Space is limited, so be sure to register today.
