Last month, two longtime members of our Board of Directors concluded their terms. This month, three new Board members are joining the team. We would like to reflect on our departing members and thank them for their service, as well as welcome and introduce our new Board members to the community.

Robert Nettles of Howell Linkous & Nettles: Robert served on South Carolina Community Loan Fund’s Board of Directors for 10 years. As an attorney versed in real estate and tax law and a specialty in affordable housing finance, Robert’s guidance and insight were instrumental. Before leaving his position on the Board, Robert remarked that he felt the organization was in capable hands and was proud of the growth achieved during his tenure.

Kelly Price of ICF International: Kelly also served on SCCLF’s Board for 10 years, and reflected on being part of the organization’s leadership during a time of immense growth in both size and scope. When Kelly reflected on the changes during her tenure, she noted the Board’s diversity and energy. “The SCCLF Board has always had a diverse set of backgrounds and talents and they are always willing to rise to the challenges presented by growth and expansion.” Kelly also noted that during her tenure, SCCLF has become a resource in community development, which she attributed to SCCLF staff. “They are such a dedicated group of people, and they are always willing to learn more and rise to the challenges set before them.”

Torrey Rush of Osmium Development Group: Torrey Rush is President of Osmium Development Group and brings a wealth of community development experience to the Board. He founded Carolina Community Development Corporation, which worked to increase affordable housing in the Midlands. Torrey also served on the Richland County Council for a number of years, and we are grateful he’s chosen to lend his experience to our Board.

Elizabeth Smith of Lesetta, LLC: Elizabeth Smith is a longtime friend and supporter of SCCLF. The organization’s mission of community development resonated with her, particularly because of her passion for healthy food access. Elizabeth recently chaired SCCLF’s Thought Leader Speaker Series, and brings her talents in fundraising and spreading the word about SCCLF to the Board.

Debby Waid of South Carolina Community Loan Fund: Debby is thrilled to be returning to SCCLF’s Board of Directors. Debby was a founding member of the Lowcountry Housing Trust’s Board, prior to joining the staff in 2012. After retiring in 2017, Debby is returning to the Board. Debby is a passionate advocate for affordable housing in particular, and SCCLF is fortunate to continue to benefit from her wealth of knowledge.

Please join us in thanking Robert and Kelly for their decade of service to SCCLF, and in welcoming Torrey, Elizabeth, and Debby to the Board!
